Solar panel installers in Guildford

Green Solar Solutions installs and maintains solar PV and battery storage for homes and businesses across London and the South East, including Guildford. Guildford is the county town of Surrey, on the River Wey, with the University of Surrey and a cathedral. The Surrey Hills National Landscape lies to the south and east of the town.

Older tiled roofs and a protected landscape

Guildford has a historic centre with many older buildings and a lot of tiled roofs. Fixing panels on an older roof starts with its condition: if tiles are brittle or the structure is uncertain, that is dealt with before anything is mounted. Listed buildings in the town need listed building consent for changes that affect their character, so roof panels are rarely straightforward on those.

Close to the Surrey Hills

Around the town the Surrey Hills National Landscape adds another layer of care for larger or ground-mounted arrays in the countryside. For an ordinary house roof the main questions remain the same: orientation, shade from trees and the condition of the roof.
